WHAT IS SEESAW?

 

Seesaw is a digital portfolio creation tool. Especially, this tool is very easy to use for students. In this way, students can enrich their electronic portfolios by adding photos, videos, drawings, texts, and links.

One of the greatest functions of the Seesaw tool is that students' work can be easily viewed by both their teachers and parents. Teachers can give instant feedback on student work, while parents can keep track of what their children are doing at school.

STUDENT PLATFORM

Students log in to the classroom using the QR code provided to them or by their own email addresses opened by their teacher. To do this, firstly, " I am a student." is selected and then, the class is entered. When students log in to the classroom, they can take photos, videos, and drawings for their portfolios, and add their work and written notes from the library. Seesaw's camera requires the camera to be stable to capture a clear image. For this reason, the seesaw app is also easy for younger students to use. Students can also record, draw, and even write on the photo taken. The students then select their names from the class list and add their work. By switching to Feed View, students can see their own work and their fellow students and give feedback with audio or written comments.

TEACHER PLATFORM

Teachers log in to the Seesaw with the " I am a teacher." option. If logging in for the first time, it must also create a class. The code required to invite students to the class is provided with the option " Get Class Code" or "Get QR Code". Teachers can change the features of the class with the "Manage Classroom" option. In addition, with the manage teachers' option in this section, different teachers can be added, and more than one teacher can be assigned to the same class. Teachers can follow the added works from the whole class view or by selecting only just a single student, and they can make audio or written comments. This app ensures that all work is organized neatly on a single platform. For the added work to be seen in the student portfolio, only the approval of the teacher is sufficient. Teachers can view portfolios in Seesaw from different platforms.

PARENT PLATFORM

When the teachers approve students' work, parents will be notified by an automated message and will be able to view student work. It is completely safe as parents can only see the work of their own children.
